Weekly Outlook 1/2/2024

I’m going to start writing a weekly outlook discussing the upcoming weather across Illinois with a focus on Central IL.

We begin the week with dry conditions as an area of high pressure dominates our weather for the first part of the week. A weak cold front is expected to push through the area on Tuesday, bringing a low chance for some light snow or freezing drizzle.

Attention then turns to the weekend, with a system bringing the chance for light snow to the area Friday night into Saturday. Don’t expect much in the way of accumulation from this system, as it stays far enough south of the area.

Next week, focus shifts to a potent system set to impact the Midwest. The exact impact on the state remains uncertain, but there are indications that some may experience snowfall here in IL.

I appreciate your forecasts and comments. It’s difficult to get much of an unbiased forecast anymore. All of the tv guys are using the same canned forecasts. Not that they are always wrong but they are definitely not always right.

Thanks! I may not always be correct, but I try to provide an unbiased forecast to the best of my abilities. As for TV meteorologists, they tend to use similar software, so you often get forecast graphics that look similar.
