February 16, 2024 Snowfall

Snowfall occurred throughout Central and South Central Illinois during the morning and afternoon of February 16, 2024. The forecast anticipated 1-3 inches for most areas, with a specific region along I-72 expected to receive 2-4 inches.

The system exceeded expectations in several locations, particularly around I-72, where some areas received up to 6.0 inches of snow.

The aftermath included numerous reported crashes across the state. On my drive home from STL Airport, several vehicles were observed off the road, and semis were jackknifed on I-70.
