Winter Blast: Below-Average Temperatures and Snow in the Forecast for Illinois Next Week

The forecast for next week is calling for a blast of cold air that is expected to bring the coldest temperatures of the year to Illinois. The Climate Prediction Center has highlighted the entire state with a 90-100% chance of below average temperatures from December 22 to December 26, 2022. This cold snap will bring highs in the teens and lows below zero, making it necessary to bundle up and stay warm.

In addition to the cold temperatures, there is also a chance of snow during this time. Some weather models, such as the Euro, are predicting a significant system that could bring accumulating snow to the area. While the exact amount of snowfall is still uncertain, it is important to be prepared for potentially hazardous driving conditions and to have a plan in place in case of any disruptions to daily activities.

It is still too early to know for certain how much of an impact this cold snap and potential snow will have on the region. However, it is a good idea to stay up to date with the latest forecasts and to take necessary precautions to stay safe and warm during this chilly period.
