Pattern Change

It has been a fantastic few weeks for us here in the Midwest! Temperatures have been well above the seasonal average for November with some days topping out near 80. Unfortunately the time has come and much cooler temperatures are on the way, with Thursday, November 10th being the last warm day before we see temperatures plunge and a pattern that will favor below average temperatures.

A cold front will sweep through the area thursday NIght bringing the start to our cooler temperatures. As we head into next week highs most days will range in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. As the sun sets temperatures plummet in to the low to mid 20’s most nights.

I am watching a shortwave that could move into the Southern portions of the state Tuesday into Wednesday. This shortwave could produce a mix of precipitation as cold air will be in place over the area. Still several days out and have a big spread in model solutions so details are not yet available but something to watch for.

This is winter weather preparedness week for Illinois. Now is a good time to make a winter survival kit for your vehicle. Better to have one and never have to use it than need one and not have one.
